Christmas Eve

Yep, Here is a Christmas Eve post more then a month later. That's how I roll these days.

I was a little worried this year that Christmas would be a little more low key and boring. This was our first Christmas at home without either families. I have always wanted to start doing our own Christmas, have the kids wake up in their own bed, and make our own traditions. This year it was it. And it was one of the greatest. Loved everything about it. Here is how our Christmas Eve went down.
Brooklyn, like a month before Christmas, told me she wanted to plan a Christmas Eve dinner. She wanted it fancy, her theme was snowflakes, she planned the menu, she wanted dancing and she wanted it to be nice. So we went with it. In my family we would always do the big dinner on Christmas day. Of course I love Christmas with my family, but I don't love that. We spend all of Christmas preparing a huge meal. So I am glad we did it different and we forever will. Christmas Eve we spent some time making our decor and then headed to a nursing home. After we ran a few errands and then late afternoon we all as a family started cooking. It was actually so fun to all be in the kitchen together, cooking and listening to Christmas music.
We hung these all over the dining room along with white lights everywhere.
Brooklyn wanted place cards as well. Didn't she do a good job?
Here we are bringing some Christmas cheer to the Nursing Home.
We will from now on do some service on Christmas Eve. It's so important and brought us so much joy. We enjoyed singing and chatting with the sweet people. My kids made cards for them too.
Now onto the dinner...
We used all of our most beautiful things to make it special.

We made some yummy food and had such a great dinner. I will remember it forever, and I bet Brooklyn will too.
This picture is awesome! All the kids did cheers with their bubble, Ryan cheered with his bottle.
After dinner we all danced to Kenny G's Christmas album. We slow danced, traded partners, did lots of twirls and dips and had so much fun. Seriously the best Christmas Eve we have ever had.
After dinner we opened Christmas jammies and then watched a video of Christ's Birth.
We really felt the spirit of Christmas the entire day.
