True Sadness

Brooklyn takes after her mom and LOVES to get the mail. I love any kind of mail...even bills. There is something about mail that I seriously love and so does my little bff. She always asks if anything came for her in the mail. Sometimes real stuff is sent my family and other times I give her magazines that come, ads, ect that have kid stuff so she thinks it came for her. Then one day the DREADED American Doll catalog came. I have never ever ordered anything from there and I HATE that they found my address. Here is why!

Stupid blogger flipped my pic. Too lazy to fix it.
So this catalog came in the mail and created....
This sad, pouty, devistated face. Why you ask? Well, she was SOOO excited to get it in the mail. Then...she sat on the couch for at least an hour pouring over every page. Then....she pointed out all the stuff she fell in love with...which was pretty much everything on every page.

Then I broke the devistating news. Just the doll costs over 100 dollars and all the accessories she wants costs at least 25-50 bucks. So I broke the news that she will not be able to buy anything from this catalog.
She was truly heart broken at the news. Randomly I had my camera out and captured each sad face. Poor girl. Too bad her parents are students! To tell ya the truth, I don't think I would ever spend that much on doll stuff regardless of how much money we had. Ridiculous in my opinion :)
She said it was her birthday coming up and that it would be the best birthday present she could ever want. :(
Sweet sweet Brooklyn. I haven't seen her that disappointed and sad. Luckily for her, she has a family that loves her and will make her birthday special even without the American Girl dolls and outfits!

American Doll--what marketing geniuses! We live by the Mall of America, and they have a huge American Girl Doll store right in the center of everything. There is even a "doll hair salon" where you can pay $25+ to have them braid your doll's hair! Insane!

I never got those dumb dolls. I hope Callie never gets into them. Most parents wont even let their kids 'play' with them. They buy them for them once they are old enough to sit them on a shelf and hold them every once and a while. What is the point of a toy if you can't play with it? That's what I say. But 'shhhhh' my in laws are one of those families. Luckily Shawn, being a guy, won't argue with me about not ever getting one!
