The Day I Got Engaged

I am sitting here bored so I thought I would take time to document my incredible love story. I don't want to ever forget the small details and I also want my children to have this, so bare with me as the next few posts are all a stroll down memory lane! I am going to have fun with this!
The day I got engaged was also my birthday. Wade and I had been talking about getting married like a month after we met in October of 2003. I however, was not expecting him to propose on my birthday...yet every other day I was hoping for it...Go figure! The day started off perfectly. I woke up and got ready for my job at BofA and then Wade surprised me by coming over and gave me part of my bday gift. He had bought me the Tim Mcgraw cd that had our song on it and he put it in my stereo and we danced to it! I loved that! He is soo romantic! Then I headed to work. By the end of the day I was getting excited to go to my parents for a bday bbq. As I am working as a teller, random people start dropping off roses to me and saying happy birthday to me. I was baffled. I had no clue how all of these people knew it was my birthday and why they were giving me a rose on top of it. I had no idea what was going on until I look through the glass door and saw Wade's mom peeking around the corner. Come to find out Wade and his mom were at the entrance and asked each person that went in to drop off a rose to the cute blonde girl and wish her Happy Birthday. I ended up with 12 roses from 12 different people! Oh what a beginning of the night that was.

Here we are at my parents at my bbq. If you know me you know I LOVE bbq's so it was perfect. I still had noooo clue at this point what was in store for me. I even walked in on my dad and Wade by themselves..."just talking". I am so dumb to have not suspected what that talk was about. My dad of course gave Wade his full support him marrying me.
Here is me as I am about to blow out my candles and then we left to finish our night. Wade said he was taking me to Carson to go on a scavenger hunt. He told me that his mom and he had gone early that morning and had hid my bday present at the end of the hunt. I still had no clue! First he wanted to stop off at Tahoe(my fav. place in the whole world) and get margaritas...yes virgin! I told him that I wanted to go strait to the scavenger hunt. He said no we had to wait. We just ended up at Applebees and got our yummy drinks. Then we headed to all the government buildings. Before I tell you the rest I have to mention that we both were very into politics and both love all these gov. buildings. We park and head to the legislative building. The grounds around all the buildings were beautiful. He told me to pick a tree. I was like, "weird...but whatever!" I picked random ones and he told me...no pick again. I was annoyed . Then I picked this really tall one and he said that was the right one and that it represented him...he was tall too! I was like ..."good...where is my present" He said I didn't get the present until the end. Next we walked over to another state building and he again told me to pick a tree. After many wrong picks, I picked this really small tree. He said I had picked the right one and that it represented our relationship as it is small and short now but that it will grow really tall and strong. He also mentioned to me that we could come back years later and show our kids our tree. At this point I still had NO CLUE!!! DUH huh? Then finally we head over to another building with huge pillars in front and he again told me to pick a pillar. After 2 tries of wrong picks I picked the 3rd one and get this he said... that 3 was a lucky charm and that I am the 3RD girl he has ever loved so 3 is his lucky charm.......uh...so not cool to tell me I am the 3rd girl he has loved on my birthday scavenger hunt. I pouted and was really annoyed. He told me I needed to get over being poutey b/c the next and final stop was going to be good. Still no idea. We ended up at the Supreme court building. This building has a big stair case on both sides and is lit up beautifully. He tells me to hold is hand as we walk up together. He explains that I am the only person he wants to walk together with and how much he loved me. We get to the top and he tells me to turn around and close my eyes. Do you think I know what is going on yet...Nope I still have no clue! He then tells me that we need to do certain things here in this life to return back to our Heavenly Father and asks me to tell him what he needs to do. I answered by saying...baptism...and some other things and he said yes to all those things but most importantly we need to get married for eternity. He asks me to turn around and open my eyes and as I do I see him down on his knee with a ring. I was sooooo excited and he asked Lindsay Danielle Heims to marry him and walk through Eternity with him. Ahhhh....how amazing. He then swooped me up and carried me down the staircase as I couldn't stop looking at this gorgeous, big, diamondy, awesome ring. Then we headed back to my house where.... My family was anxiously waiting. My dad had told them Wade's plan. So they knew. Our friend Jenny went to work and took this blue shirt of my moms and embroidered "Future Mrs. Wade Iverson" on the back for me to where when I got home.
Here is my ring. Looks different now because I have a diamond band on each side but still gorgeous!
That was the end of my most perfect birthday and proposal. Hope you enjoyed it like I did! It was fun to picture each step in my head as I typed my story. Oh...on a side note I have to mention that Wade had no plan of what he was going to do for my scavenger hunt. He knew at the end he was going to propose. He made up all the rest as we went along from area to area. Funny Huh???
Stay tuned for our wedding pictures and photos from our reception!

What a great story! It's amazing how fast time goes by. I remember taking you and Winter home from Girl's camp, and you both were talking about boys all the way home. You and Wade make a perfect couple (tall men are the only way to go! You never have to worry about having to high of heels on), and now you have a beautiful baby girl! (Girl's are definitely the best!!)
