My Sensative Little Girl

We had a good weekend! Wade did not feel that great and Brooklyn is teething again, but all in all it was a pretty good weekend. Wade and I saw Get Smart...very funny movie...loved it! I had a girls night out at Johny Corino's which was fun. Yesterday we watched the Olympic Trials and just relaxed. My family came over for dessert and it was fun to visit. So that is my weekend recap!

Now on to my little Brooklyn. She is now 14 months old and going on 2. Her tantrums and fits have already started. If she gets taken inside after playing outside, she throws a huge fit. I could go on but I won't because we think we may have almost cured the problem. One morning last week she had 5 fits and meltdowns in the first 45 minutes of being awake. I called Wade and said I was DONE. I had had it with her. Wade and I talked about what we were going to do so that we did not have this kind of child. Wade told me that we needed to correct our firey behavior that sometimes comes out. Brooklyn is just reacting and behaving like she sees others doing. Wade and I are not afraid to admit that we sometimes yell at the dog or at her when she is bad or at each other when we are mad. Well the last few days we have been OVER cautious of not giving any bad behavior or out bursts. Well what do you know? She has not had a tantrum for almost 5 days now. We have been calm with her. If she starts to get frustrated or mad we just calmly talk to her and she immediately stops. So I think we have killed two birds with one stone. We have our little sweet Brooklyn back and we have corrected our behavior. Sweet huh?

Brooklyn is a talking machine. A lot of the time it is just baby talk, but she is always talking. I guess she gets that from both mom and dad. She has also increased her vocabulary this last month. She says about 20 words. My favorites are, Jesus, Ah Oh, juice, ball, na night, mama, daddy, may may(macy), binky, na no(as she shakes her pointed finger), and nana.
My sweet little Brooklyn is also extremely sensitive. If someone she doesn't know really well tells her no, she balls and balls. If we give her a guilty bad look when she does something naughty, she quivers her lips and starts to ball. Last night she didn't have a shirt on and took a pen and drew on her tummy. I looked at her and said, "Brooklyn that is a no no" She started to tear up and then she looked at the mark on her tummy and balled. She kept balling every time she looked down at the mark. I finally had to wipe the line off her tummy to stop her crying. It is really sweet that she is so sensitive. She is just like me. I am very sensitive and can get my feelings hurt.
Brooklyn is also VERY into dancing. I am serious when I say that the minute she hears music she drops everything and starts to shake and dance. She dances in the car, in front of the tv and dances to Wade's weird songs he makes up. Super cute! I am going to get her into dance class the minute she is old enough.
Well that is enough for now. I have nothing going this week...last week I was super busy, and this week nothing! I am sure I will find some fun things to do!

Hey there Lindsay! I tracked down your blog too . . . I'm going to add you to the list if that's ok. I will never remember how I got here otherwise! Brooklyn is so adorable! I can tell that you are an awesome mom (like there was ever a doubt that you would be!). Keep in touch! Love, Julie

Link us up girl! Way to go on being more calm...if having a baby will make me more calm, I think I better pop one of those bad boys out soon :)
