Goodbye Grandmama

This post is hard. My Grandmama died on January 31, 2014. It was extremely bitter sweet at the time. Her disease was so horrific so when she died it was a relief that the torture was over. But now it's more sad and I miss her. One beautiful thing about family members funerals is that the entire family flies, drives and comes together. Such was the case in early February. This is a long post with lots of pictures, which I am sure my family will enjoy.
Winter and I drove together with our kids. What a road trip- 12+ plus hours. We stopped on Monday night in Vegas. It was nice to break up such a long drive. the next day we got back on the road for Reno.
I got the boys these matching Vday jammies since we were there on Vday. Cute cousin buddies!
These two are wild twins! While we were in Reno we had a great time hanging out and enjoying our family. The only thing missing was Macy :(
My Grandmama died a devout Catholic. So many people in this world don't go to church anymore and I am so happy that my Grandmama valued religion and went every Sunday. Her Service was beautiful. When I walked in and saw this table I cried and cried. See that big picture on the left? That was her just a couple of years ago. How very sad that someone so youthful, young and energetic died early in life. She was only 68.
These next few pictures are the entry way tables. That was my Grandpadaddy in that big picture with her. He died 12 years ago and it brings a big smile on my face when I think about their sweet reunion.

That man in that big picture with her was her husband of four years. Allen is incredible and I am so very thankful that they found each other. He provided my Grandmama with an amazing last four years of her life. Such a blessing he is in our family. Gosh she was so young. I miss the Grandmama in that picture. The sick Grandmama, I am happy she is now free, but that Grandmama a few years ago is who I am really missing.
This is my mom and her two sisters.

My mom and her two California cousins. We love Lindy and Susan!
My Instagram caption to this was pretty perfect so I will repeat it here:
"Said goodbye to my sweet Grandmama today. Such a beautiful service. Four generations in this picture, one is just on the other side smiling."
Allen and the three Bratton girls.
Love this family!
My mom and Nanni- who is my Grandmama's sister.
Her favorite color was yellow so we all tried to incorporate yellow into our outfits and into the service. Oh and Wade flew in for a day to be there with us. He had a major trial starting a few days after so the sacrafice for him to be with my family was huge. Love you Wade. My Grandmama LOVED and ADORED Wade.
It was so good to be with my family and Love on my sister especially after the tragedy she had just been through.
My Grandmama and Grandpadaddy's final resting place.
Before our Cali family left we met for breakfast at Mimi's. It was so so good to be with family, I can't say that enough. Just wish we had Grandmama with us.
Cute little Valentines Loves.
Oh these babies are such vultures!
It was such a great trip to Reno and such an honor to celebrate the legacy of, "enduring WELL to the end", "Living a positive life with a smile always", and "enduring trials with grace and a smile". That was My sweet Grandmama. Always had a smile, was always positive with tons of energy and enjoyed the smallest-, simplest pleasures in life.
Love this picture!
I'll spare the details of our road trip back home but lets just say it was the trip from hell with all of us having the flu the night before we left and the day of. It also included three kids barfing in the car.
