Wade and I try really hard to travel often. Even if it's for a weekend. We usually take one big family trip a year. I have become quite the good travel agent :) I spent months pricing, thinking, researching, budgeting, ect. We had a trip booked to Cabo in Mexico. I was really excited about it. Then we decided getting approval from the AF General (under AF rules, we are not allowed to travel to Mexico unless we get approval from our base General) would be too lengthy of a process and we would probably risk our cancellation time. I mourned :( Then we pretty much had a trip booked to NY. But after talking to some people, we decided going to NY with three small children in the summer humidity and having to walk everywhere, wouldn't be all that fun. So then I focused on California. We wanted a beach vacation and Cali is too close not to end up in. My friend who travels a lot recommend these vacation beach condo's in Oceanside, CA. I got onto VRBO.com and picked a condo in our price range and booked it. We usually stay in resorts/hotels when we travel- and we still will- but staying in a vacation rental was BY far the cheapest way to go. Plus we could make full meals-big savings.
So anyway, June 7th finally came and we hoped in the car and headed for the beach. Byebye 110 degrees.
We made it! This was our view. The ocean was a few steps away. Our condo was perfect for us.
When we got there, we immediately headed to the grocery store to pick up the extra stuff I didn't buy before (we loaded up two totes full of food, I made a weekly meal menu and we stuck to it.). We ordered some pizza and then headed to the beach to just put our feet in.
The kids were sooooo excited for the beach.
Ryan freaked out in excitement. I will post a video next of his first time in the ocean.
I am so grateful for these four. We have so much fun together.
I loved the lighting and my view :)
pure excitement!
The next day was Sunday and we tried going to a local ward. The ward was non existent which was sad because we don't like missing church and unfortunately there were no wards starting after one. So we opted for plan b- the San Diego Temple. We spent over an hour there. We walked around, sat under the trees, said a family prayer and enjoyed the beauty.
I am so so grateful for the knowledge that I have of these temples being the House of the Lord. Peace and happiness are found inside these walls.
Because it was Sunday, we treated it like any ordinary Sunday and kept the Sabbath day holy. We didn't spend money, or swim, ect. We just spent time as a family, took naps, took a walk on the beach and bbq'd some steaks.
Wade always takes these cool Moroni pics at every temple we visit.
Oh these boys of mine. They keep us busy.
The San Diego area is so beautiful, so clean and so nice. I want to live there :)
We seriously did this. Just laid and relaxed on the benches outside :)
Sometimes when I look at these three together, I still can't believe they are all mine. Of course I think I received the best of the best :) And can't believe how blessed we are to have them forever.
So that wraps up day one. It was beautiful and relaxing- exactly what a vacation should be.
