Wade and I just got back from one of the most amazing trips we've ever taken. And that's saying a lot because Wade and I have traveled to a lot of cool places together. Originally we wanted to go somewhere tropical and far to celebrate our ten years. I looked into going but we didn't really have any good options for childcare for longer then a few days. So I hoped on Southwest and they were having an amazing deal on flights- one being to Seattle. We were going to go to Chicago or NY but we only had 5 days and we didn't want to spend that much time traveling. Seattle is somewhere we had never been and it was a quick flight from AZ. So thanks to the help of my parents, brother and sister who took turns watching our kids, we headed to Seattle. And then I fell in love.
We were greeted by a beautiful rainbow as soon as we got off the plane. This picture is probably true Seattle weather, but we had AMAZING weather pretty much the whole time.
Our plan was to find somewhere to eat and then play around downtown. We got in around dinner time. So we got our rental car and headed towards the city. Big time bummer happened when I spent too much time looking at my phone for somewhere to eat and reviews and got MAJORLY car sick. It's weird because I NEVER get car sick. I thought I was going to die. So long story short, Wade had to drop me off at the hotel so I could lay down and he ran through the drive through at Jack in the Box and ate it in our hotel room and I fell asleep. Such a horrible waste of vacation time. Thankfully I felt better when I woke up the next day.
Sunday morning we ate breakfast at our hotel cafe (super overpriced) and then headed to church. This building was gorgeous. The talks were all great and I am so glad that we attend church while we are vacationing. It's amazing that anywhere in the world you go, the church is the same and you feel comfortable and at home.
After church we started knocking off our list of things to do.
Wade is taller then the maximum clearance sign. So funny.
I am a pretty dang good travel agent, if I do say so myself. I really should go into the business ;) I always find the best deals, do lots of research, read reviews ect. So I had a whole itinerary full of things to do. We thought a good Sunday activity would be to drive to the Snoqualmie Falls. It was a gorgeous drive. So so green. In the last 4-5 years we haven't lived anywhere remotely green, so it was a breath of fresh air.
We took lots of pictures which I fully intend to include on my blog:) Most are of me because Wade was a butt and would rather photograph me over me to him. boo. We did ask sometimes for people to take a pic of the two of us. Those are my fave. Oh and Wade says it's a waste to take a picture of just the landscape/area- He says it's no better then a post card you can buy so he insisted at least one of us were in them.
I'm not a fan of selfies, but we had to resort to them sometimes.
This waterfall was gorgeous.
The weather couldn't have been better for us. 69 or 70 degrees the entire time. I loved it because I got to wear scarves, cardigans and clothes I have missed while living in the desert.
It felt so good to just be with Wade. We had the best time without our kids. We missed them but we soaked in the time we had just us. We needed it. We miss just being us sometimes.
After the falls we stopped for lunch at a well reviewed sandwich shop. It was delicious and the landscape around was gorgeous- this pic obviously didn't capture it :)
We stayed at the Watertown Hotel. It was probably our favorite hotel we've stayed at-ever. We are big Marriott hotel fans but this one was even better. They had a shuttle that was free that took us into downtown. We stayed probably 10 minutes from downtown. SOOOO thankful for the free shuttle because parking would have been a total nightmare and ridiculously expensive.
So after lunch we headed back to Seattle, hopped on the shuttle and explored downtown. It was so so so awesome. First up was Pikes Place. Super cool place. It's famous for a reason.
Local fish/artists/flowers/vendors/ farmers market. All super cheap and awesome.
I sent this ugly picture of myself to Weston. These shrimp we gigantic. He is a shrimp lover and was jealous!
Huge bouquet of fresh local flowers for only ten bucks. Wade wanted to buy me some, but where would have put them?
Famous gum wall. Actually it's not a gum wall, it's a gum alley and buildings on both sides are covered. How on earth did this start?
I loved it and thought it was neat. Wade- not so much. He was grossed out.
I included this picture because my hair looked beautiful. Not the greatest picture of me, but my hair looks so good. I just went from all brown to ALLLLLL blonde- ombre-ish.
Seattle is so romatic adn gorgeous. Perfect spot for a 10 anniversary trip.
Wade is so tall that we chop his head off a lot.
Totally bought this over priced moo moo to sleep in. Love it :)
World's tallest man panited on this wall. Wade loved it. Made him look shrimpy.
After exploring a little bit downtown we hopped on the monorail and headed to the Space needle.
That thing is pricey, but sooooo worth it. I would only recommend it at dusk/night. The next few pictures will explain why.
Holy gorgeous views.
The lighting was perfect!
Still can't believe we've been married for ten years! Holy cow. More in love now then we were then. We've had rough years, but it's getting better and better as we grow and mature.
Oh Seattle- looking at this picture it makes me misssss you.
We didn't eat at the Space Needle restaurant. Way too expensive and a very small menu that was so fancy, I wasn't sure what we would even order. So we opted for a restaurant down the street that wasn't that good. Boo
So that was day one. We had a PERFECT first day in Seattle.
