First Day of School

Today Wade started his first day of Law School. His first class was at 8am and he was out the door at 715. He was so excited. He is going to ride his bike to school every day but today I took him. I felt sad as I dropped him off. Sad but at the same time excited. I know this journey is going to be tough. At the same time I am SOOO excited for Wade. He is studying something he has a passion for and I know this education is going to lead to great things for our family. Wade said the day went by really well. He seemed to like his professors and already loved the class discussions. He did mention that there is a TON of reading. He is a slow reader so we will see how that goes. Anyway, here are some pictures.

Wade told me that he is 27 and did not need a first day of school picture. I replied and said, "oh, absolutely I am taking a first day of school picture of you, and you have no choice in that matter!"
This is Wade and Brooklyn on our first visit to the School.

This is the entrance to the school. Have I mentioned that Texas Tech is ginormous? Well it is the hugest thing I have ever seen. Every building is beautiful. It actually looks like part of a castle. I will have to take some pictures of the spectacular buildings. They are seriously...beautiful. Wade is lucky to go to such a nice school.

Wade in front of his first home...the Law Library(our home will probably be his second home). He will spend a good 40 hours here each week studying. Boo for us at home:(
I thought it might be fun to list some of the unique things we have noticed about Lubbock, TX or just TX is general.
*EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE wears Texas Tech clothing. EVERYONE. You will never, and I mean NEVER, go anywhere without seeing tons of people sporting the Tech stuff. Even the stores are decked out in Tech. Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, the Mall...you name the store there is Tech everywhere.
*They have Sonic burgers and Dairy Queens on every corner.
*Lots of BBQ joints. They are everywhere. And Steakhouses. There is a whole entire page dedicated in the phone book to just the steakhouses.
*Every ones yard is immaculate, which makes for nice neighborhoods even though most are really old.
*Every building here is made out of brick. Houses and commercial buildings too. I am not sure they know what stuco is.
*Everyone here drives a truck, and nice ones too! They even have trucks that are "Texas only" editions. Kind of like the Eddie Bauer Edt. Yep, they have a TX edition. Funny huh?
*These people are very proud of their state.
*Everyone here goes to church. I guess even the cashiers ask you if you are a church goin' family. That is crazy!
*The other day I was at a nice grocery store and the rule at this store is that the baggers have to take out your groceries for you. (SWEET) At the end, this kid thanked us and then said, "God Bless You". My goodness, I was shocked but so happy at the same time!
*The people here yap and yap and yap. The repair men, the cashiers, everyone here will tell you their life story.
That is it for now! Texas has been good to us! We will really love it here.

We love Texas, we really do. Here it's all about UT and the burnt orange color -- I guess it's all about being true to your school.

So glad you guys are happy!
