Let me start off by saying that I am the furthest thing you can get to anything involving running. I have NEVER in my life ran a mile without stopping. I was one of those in HS that would run when the coach was watching and then walk when he turned his head. I hate running. My knees would pop out of place when I would run a block. I just started working out about a year ago when my good friend Debbie motivated me to do classes with her.
Then I meet Dani and she convinces me to run a 5k. I laughed at first but agreed because running in a race was something that I have had on my "bucket" list since high school. I thought this would be the perfect chance since I had someone to train with me!
I trained for the last 8 weeks. Silly? Probably, but I had never ever run so I had to train. I remember when I ran my first mile without stopping, I was so excited I wanted to call everyone I knew! Then I ran 2 miles without stopping. Never in my training did I run 3.
So onto the pictures and there are a ton because this was so huge for me and I am not leaving a single one out! You have no idea how huge this was for me!

Me, Dani, Brittney and Melanie. MY 4 good friends! I am so glad they were there too!

There I go! I am the second one from the left. My two goals: I couldn't stop or walk, and I had to pass at least one other runner!
The race was HARD for me. It was 3 miles and I had only ever ran 2 without stopping. The last mile about killed me. Thank goodness I had a good Ipod play list(thank you Wade, who stayed up late making it for me. It was strategic. All the good ones at the end to get me through).

There I am just about to cross the finish line. I am right behind the lady in pink with a hat on. The last mile, I thought, I HATE THIS and I AM NEVER DOING THIS AGAIN! But then once I crossed that finish line, it felt amazing.

You have no idea how amazing this felt! The finish line was right on the side of me! It was so good to see Wade and the kids who were rooting for me!

Yep then I was about to die! I was so weak but felt so ACCOMPLISHED! I completed the goals I had set! I am still in shock that I ran the whole thing without stopping!

What a gross look! Oh well! Melanie came right away and congratulated me! What a good friend!

Dani ran with me the whole way, right until the last leg and then she took off to make her goal time! It was fun seeing her at the finish line though!

The weather was perfect, thank goodness!

I am still shocked that I did it!

I obviously ran in the Race for the Cure! What a perfect race to run for my first one. It was an honor to put Wade and I's Grandma Iverson on my back! When I was running, it was cool to read the backs of people. Some said, in memory of and then had a name (that was really sad) and other had, in celebration of...12 years cancer free! It was really neat!

After there was music and TONS of free food. We wanted to stand in line for pizza and Chick Fil A but the lines were huge, so we settled for sausage on a stick...gross!

Thanks Dani for getting me there and through the finish line. What a GREAT friend!

My fans! Brooklyn told me that I WON!

I am so proud of myself. I am not sure I am addicted to races, but I could see another one in my future ;)

Good Job! I totally have been thinking of doing the same thing, running a race, but I am not a runner. Maybe you have just given me the motivation to start! :)
