24 hour road trip

Here is how our trip went down.

Saturday morning we were loaded up, ready to go, and waiting for Wade to get done with an externship meeting he had to be at. Of course he got out late, which ended up putting us leaving 1.5 hours late. We also figure out that our new Tahoe's power steering goes out. GREAT! We had a 15 hour drive to UT keep in mind. So anyway, we were on the road at 12, putting us in UT around 3am. So we get an hour outside of town cruising along when all the sudden we realize Wade forgets his suits. DUH, he needs his suits when interns everyday for a judge. We turn around and head home. You won't believe how mad I was at Wade. I was FUMING! 20 bucks waisted in gas, and 1.5 hours of lost time once we get back on the road. So that would have put us in UT around 4 or 5am. We finally get home get the suits and I have a feeling that we just need to stay home and leave early Sunday morning. Something just told me to stay and we all felt peace about that decision. We still don't know why we felt prompted to stay, but I am glad we listened anyway.

So we had our car fixed, and hung around all Saturday. Sunday we woke up very early and got on the road. We ended up having our gear shifts go out, which caused us not to be able to put it in park or reverse. Stupid Firestone who worked on it Saturday didn't do something right.

In the end we made it to UT and to Winter's house for the night. The drive with the kids could not have gone better. Honestly they didn't even make one peep, fuss, cry, try to get out of their seats. They just sat, watched tons and tons of movies, ate a bunch a junk and were the best kids ever!

Monday morning we got up got our car fixed at firestone and headed for Reno. Once again the 8 hours were flawless. Kids were SPECTACULAR! The last 3 hours for me were rough though. I was so antsy to get out and I was the one fussing ;)

So now Wade is off to work and I am laying in bed while my mom loves on my kids all morning!

Sounds like you had some rough challenges - but I'm so glad you guys got there safe and that your kids were good! I can't even imagine how much worse it would have been if you would have had screaming fussing kids! Thank heavens for movies and portable DVD players right??? Can't wait to see you guys in August! :) Have a good time!
