Shoot!

I went into my scheduled OB appointment today not expecting anything out of the ordinary. I get in there, get my weight checked...didn't gain a pound in the last 2 weeks...kind of weird. Then the nurse takes my blood pressure and there starts my bad news for the day. My blood pressure spiked. Two weeks ago my BP was 118/72, very normal. Today it was 138/92. Not terribly bad but when you have a serious past history with high blood pressure and only one kidney, it is a problem that all the sudden it spiked.

So then Dr. Omar came in and had a sad face. She said that there was protein in my urine sample. Combine that with my sudden spike in BP you have signs of developing Pre-Clampsia. Sooooooo.... I have gone 36 weeks without any problems and now this. Well....I am thankful I have gone this far without bed rest and problems:)

So the next step is to do a 24 hour urine sample. I won't explain, but is sucks! Then I go back on Monday to see Dr. Omar again. She will also have my 24 hour test results back too. She tells me that if I have moderate to severe Pre-Clampsia she will need to induce me next Friday May 1st. I will be 37 weeks at that time. If I have mild PC then she will put me on bed rest for just under two weeks and induce me at 38 weeks. I was induced at 38 weeks with Brooklyn. If I have borderline PC I will be on bed rest for 3 weeks and she will induce me at 39 weeks. Of course I will see her two times a week from now on and if anything gets worse, even a little, I will have the baby at that time by induction.

There is another possibility. The 24 hour urine sample comes back and tells us that there is no Pre-Clampsia and everything is fine. Then I think I will still be induced early because of the blood pressure and protein.

I will keep you up to date when I find out anything further!

SHOOT!

Oh dang...I always have to do the 24 hour urine thing and it does suck! I remember last time I took it with me to my Mom's house and you have to keep it in the fridge and she was totally grossed out. Funny times. I hope everything comes out okay....but just think that little babe will be here sooner rather than later so that is a plus!!!

big bummer! thank goodness you haven't had this throughout this pregnancy...much easier to deal with it for only a couple of weeks rather than months! good attitude!
