Sick girl

Yesterday Brooklyn woke up at 6:30am throwing up. Then she had diarrhea...bad. This combination of barfing and going diarrhea lasted over 16 hours. She couldn't hold a sip of Gatorade or water down for longer then 5 minutes. Towards the end of the night she was getting pretty lethargic and very weak. We kept giving her tiny sips and decided at 12pm after her last barfing session that we needed to take her to the ER. We definitely knew she was dehydrated. We got there and the wait was surprisingly short. Here we have a women's and children's hospital, which is really nice. After seeing the ER doctor for the first time he took one look at her and said she was one sick little girl. He immediately put her on an IV of fluids, said she has a bad ear infection, some wheezing in her lung which he ordered chest xrays for, and said she has a low grade fever. They also wanted to put a catheter in her but I vetoed that idea right away. That would have traumatized her.

Luckily I got her to give a very small urine sample in a cup which satisfied the doctor and his catheter plans. Whewww. Then they came in to draw blood and give her an IV. Get this....she didn't cry or even flinch as the needle slowly went in. Such a brave girl. She actually liked watching the blood coming out and the saline going in. Her chest xrays came back good and indicated a viral infection, which was better than pneumonia. After her labs came back the doctor immediately admitted her overnight. She was severely dehydrated and very sick. Wade and Weston went home at about 2am and we got into our new room at 4. Long story short, she is very ill, very weak and still feeling yucky.

Poor baby. She is feeling so much better from last night, thankfully. The doctor is watching her today and we may be here again tonight depending on how her lab work comes back and if she barfs again.
Brooklyn and I shared this bed from 4am until 6am when she woke up crying because she was so thirsty. She couldn't drink anything until 1030am. Poor girl.

Wade and Weston came this morning and Weston thinks that this bed is way too much fun. He just goes crazy on it!
Oh and she doesn't have the flu. She has a stomach bug called gastroitis? Maybe that is what it is called, I don't know. It is nasty though. We are thankful we brought her in because she was very dehydrated last night despite our efforts to keep her hydrated.
We are hoping the rest of us skip this awful bug. Wade has finals this week and needs to be strong and healthy. Plus it's my bday tomorrow and who wants to barf or clean up baby barf on their bday? Not me! Wish us luck!

So sad! Now you have me a little freaked out since Fishe spent all night Friday night throwing up. We kept debating whether or not to take him into the doctor but KY Derby was going on and we figured the ER would be a mad house. I hope she is feeling better soon!
